Douglas (Doug) Elvin Dick, 77, of Island City, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at his residence. A Funeral Service will be held at Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints in Island City on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 10:00am.
Doug was born on September 21, 1941, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Ivan and Lorna (Gardner) Dick. He attended Idaho Falls High School and was married to Julia “Kay” Dick.
Doug worked for Boise Cascade in Elgin for nearly 40 years. He encountered many hardships in life but took great pride in becoming financially successful while working for a company he loved. He enjoyed spending time with his family as well as volunteering for the Union County Backpack Program. His hobbies included working in his yard and gardening.
Doug is survived by his daughters, Joan K. (Tom) Duncan of La Grande, Connie J. (Rick) Hoskin of Summerville; son John D. Dick of Kennewick; brother-in-law, Jim Simpkins; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Julia Kay (Krupp) Dick; parents, Ivan and Lorna Dick; sisters, Diane Simpkins, Sheila Eiman, and Joelen Garrison.
