Fredrick “Freddy” Ray Freels, 81, of La Grande, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018 at a local care facility. No service is planned at this time.
Freddy was born on July 14, 1937 in Enterprise, Oregon to Loren and Louis (Vannaache) Freels. He resided in Wallowa, OR, Summerville, OR and La Grande, OR. He graduated from Wallowa High School. He married Irma May Lindsay on May 1, 1965.
Freddy was employed with various mechanical jobs in Eastern Oregon over the years. His passion was restoring antique cars and trucks with is life-long friend, Leon Peroz of Imbler. In the early 1960’s, he played an Indian in the movie, “Pillars in the Sky” filmed in Eastern Oregon.
Freddy is survived by his wife, Irma; children, Gary Freels of Milwaukie, OR, Greg Freels of Scapoose, OR, Paul Freels of Imbler, OR, and Lisa Crawford (Joseph) of La Grande, OR; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Louis, and sister, JoAnne Johnson.
