Gary Parker Baldwin, 68, of La Grande, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at his residence. A Celebration of Life will be held at Loveland Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 2:00pm.
Gary was born on December 21, 1950 in Pendleton, Oregon to James and Mary (Parker) Baldwin. He attended school at Baker Senior High School. Gary served our country while in the United States Army 2nd Battalion, 35th Artillery and in Vietnam in 1971. He was married to Susan R. Smith.
Gary was the Custodian at Eastern Oregon University for 20 years until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, working in his yard camping and loved watching football. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, Representative to Vietnam Campaign Medal, and received the Marksman (M-16) award. He was a life member of the American Legion.
Gary is survived by his wife, Susan; step-children, Casey Smith (Brandi) of Elgin, OR, Wiley Smith (Jessica) of Pendleton, OR and Monica Smith of La Grande, OR and 6 other surviving children; sisters, Linda Gentry (Homer) of Baker City, OR, Tanna Morris (Allen) of Richland, OR, and Jean Hansen (Fred) of Pensacola, FL; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Baldwin.
