Irma May Freels, 80, of La Grande, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Grande Ronde Hospital. At her request, there will be no service.
Irma was born on April 2, 1939 in Nampa, Idaho to Milon and Nellie (Aldridge) Lindsay. She resided in Summerville and La Grande, OR. Irma attended Elgin Elementary, Middle school and graduated from Elgin High School. She married Fredrick Freels on May 1, 1965.
Irma was employed with Nyla’s Clothing. She then worked as a bank teller and later, worked at The Emporium. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and horseback riding when she was younger. Her sewing skills were amazing. She made baby quilts, wedding dresses, and uniforms for EOU sports teams. She was a member of the Summerville Baptist Church for many years. Irma loved being with her family and being a friend to everyone she met.
Irma is survived by her children, Lisa Crawford (Joe) of La Grande, OR and Paul Freels of Imbler, OR; brother, Howard Lindsay of Washington; sister, Helen Davis of Maine; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Fredrick, parents, Milon and Nellie and sister, Wynona London.
