Jon Richard Folsom, 79, of Cove, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at his residence. A Viewing will be held at Loveland Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 7, 2019 6:00-7:00pm. A second Viewing will be held at Loveland Funeral Chapel on Friday, February 8, 2019 9:00-9:45 am. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:00am.
Jon was born on March 4, 1939 in La Grande, Oregon to George and Marian (Larson) Folsom. He was raised in La Grande and graduated from La Grande High School and later attended University of Oregon. Jon served our country while in the United States Army. He married Darlene Ashby and they later divorced. He then married Sharon Carpenter and they later divorced. In October, 1992 he married Helen “Faith” Sutter and were married for 26 years.
Jon was employed with the Oregon State Highway Department for a brief time. He then worked as a Locomotive Engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad for 42 years. Jon enjoyed crappie fishing, water skiing, gardening and yardwork, camping with his masonic brothers at the Malheur Caves. He liked lying in the grass at night with his wife, Faith, looking at the stars. He also enjoyed spending time with good friends Erin Endicott riding their Honda 90’s and with Mike Wukawitz and family at their cabin on the lake in Minnesota. Jon organized the annual Cove Easter Egg Hunt and he was a fan of the Seattle Seahawks and the Portland Trailblazers. Jon was a member of the Cove Masonic Lodge 91.
Jon is survived by his wife, Faith; children, Erin Folsom (Sheri) of Cove, OR, Danielle Folsom of Niceville, FL, Stan Moseley of Alaska, Eric Moseley of Florida and Steve Moseley of California; step-brother, Kao Oakley of Bend, OR; sister, Carole Folsom-Hill (Steve) of Yakima, WA; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Marian Folsom.
