Kenneth Olin Bomberger, 88, of La Grande, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019 at his residence. A Viewing will be held at Loveland Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 12, 2019 10:00am - 12:00pm. Funeral Service will be held at the La Grande Faith Lutheran Church on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 5:00pm.
Kenneth was born on September 17, 1930, in Kearney, Nebraska to Olin and Louise (Iverson) Bomberger. He resided in Kearney, NE; O’Neill, NE; Holdrege, NE; Central City, NE; Scio, OR and La Grande, OR. He attended Holdrege grade school and graduated from Central City, High School. He married his one and only love, Dorothy Darlene Hicks. The were married for 61 years. Kenneth served our country while in the United States Navy serving on the USS Los Angeles during the Korean War, 1951-1955.
Kenneth was self-employed before going to work as a Cartographer with the Oregon Department of Revenue. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, coin and stamp collecting, camping, hunting, fishing, watching grandkids and great grandkids do sports and grow. He also enjoyed watching football, basketball, baseball and track and field. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in La Grande and VFW Post 43.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Kent A. Bomberger (Brenda) of La Grande, OR, Karl O Bomberger (Shana) of Pendleton, OR and Keith D. Bomberger (Lori) of La Grande, OR; sister, Phyillis Desch (Robert), of Portland, OR; sister-in-law, Ann Bomberger of Fraizer Lake, BC; brothers, Donald Bomberger (Diana) of Sheridan, OR and Gary Bomberger (Diana) of Spring Hill, FL; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Olin and Louise and brother, Manning G. Bomberger.
