Marolyn Ann Smith, 80, of La Grande, Oregon passed away May 12, 2019, at a local care facility. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Valley Fellowship, 507 Palmer Ave, La Grande, Oregon.
She was born April 2, 1939 in Elk Point, South Dakota to Ralph & Evelyn Smith, she was the youngest of four children. She married Frank Rivers in 1955 and they had two daughters (De & Jo). Marolyn earned her GED in 1968 and was employed as an office assistant for Archway Cookies for several years in California.
In 1972, they moved to Summerville, Oregon and she was employed at The Boise Cascade Particle Board Mill in La Grande, Oregon. She and her husband later divorced. In 1975, she married David Smith who had 3 children of his own (Rusty, Deedee & Wendie) from a previous marriage, blending the two families into one.
Marolyn loved serving The Lord at Valley Fellowship church where she and David were greeters. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to sew clothes for her children and, she loved square dancing and sewed matching outfits for her & David. She also enjoyed baking, crafting, fishing and hunting. She was an avid Seattle Seahawks & Portland Trailblazers fan.
Marolyn is survived by daughters De Toombs (Scott Toombs), Jo Ireland, Denise Lini (John Lini), Wendie Rogers, son Rusty Smith, 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. A special thanks to our extended family members, Mikel & Lindi Voss, mom’s Medical Guardians whom she also considered her kids. She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph & Evelyn Smith, siblings Konnie Smith, LeRoy Smith and Leona Trudeau and two grandsons, Logan Thomas & Kyle Cruz.

Mom, we'll think of you always, we'll talk about you still, you've not been forgotten and you never will. We'll hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain, to walk & guide us through our lives, until we meet again.
