Martha Loucinda McMahon, 87, of California, formerly of Union, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at her residence. She was buried next to her husband at Willamette National Cemetery on February 19, 2019.
Martha was born on March 3, 1931 in Rome, Georgia to John and Mary (Whitener) Callahan. She resided in Rome, GA; Calhoun, GA; Boise, ID AFB; Portland, OR; Union, OR and Chico, CA. She married Dennis McDonald, then married Walter Bottorff Jr. for 13 years. In 1977, she married James Willard McMahon, who is a World War II Veteran. James passed away on October 29, 2006. They were married for 28 years and the marriage was sealed in the Temple of Latter-day Saints, Boise, ID. She remained a member of the LDS Church.
Martha was a caregiver, homemaker, waitress, and enjoyed being in the wilderness with her husband, Jim, cutting firewood and hunting morels. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, hunting and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the TOPS and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Martha is survived by her children, Dennis Bottorff (Gail) of La Grande, OR, and Victoria Woodward of Chico, CA; sisters, Myrtle Davis and Mary Ann Bell, both of Calhoun, GA; 5 grandchildren; Aaron Bottorff (Melinda) of La Grande, OR, Nathan Miller (Sara) of Vancouver, WA, Brent Bottorff (Misty) of Belle Plains, MN, David Miller (Korey) of Chico, CA and Duncan Miller of Chico, CA. She was preceded in death by her father, John and mother, Mary Jane Callahan who was of the Creek, Cherokee and Choctaw Indian Nations; daughters, Patricia Bottorff and Donna Gail Bottorff; brothers, JW Callahan, and Paul Callahan; sisters, Doris Bell, Barbara Phipps and Betty Suggs.
