Melissa Dawn Weyant, 72, of La Grande, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at St. Luke’s, Medical Center, Boise, Idaho. A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer.
Melissa was born on September 3, 1946 in Rochester, New Hampshire to Ben and Erma (Goodfellow) Joy. She grew up in California and attended Yreka High School. Later she took a nurses training course an earned her CNA in 1991 with St. Elizabeth’s in Baker City. She married Jerald Weyant on June 15, 1965 and they later divorced in 1991. On May 26, 1993 she remarried Jerald and divorced on October 21, 2009.
Melissa was the owner operator of Park Place Adult Foter Care in Baker City, OR for 6 years and she was the Manager at the Greenwell Motel since July 2005. She enjoyed collecting angels, tea sets, ceramics, gardening, dry flower arrangements and loved watching the Seattle Mariners and the Dodgers. She was a member of the Catholic Church and the American Legion. Melissa was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved La Grande and the people in it and all her friends.
Melissa is survived by her companion, Randy Foster of La Grande; children, Jeffrey Scott Weyant (Autumn) of Redding, CA, Jon E. Weyant (Jennifer) of La Grande, Cristy Egger (Kevin) of Pasco, WA, Jerald Weyant II (Megan Morrison) of La Grande, OR; sister, Gail (Walter) of Yreka, CA and brother, Skip Joy of Montana; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Erma; sons, Robert Allen Weyant and brother, Lewis Raymond Joy.
