Michael Edward Moeller, 64, of Island City, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019 in Draper, Utah with family by his side. Rosary will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 6:00pm and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church at 10:00am. A Celebration of life will follow at the Country Club Golf Course.
Mike was born on October 11, 1954 in Baker City, Oregon to Edward Wayne Moeller and Marjorie Sue Blankenship Moeller.
Mike attended school in Baker City, OR graduating from Baker High School in 1973. He pursued his education attending Blue Mountain Community College completing an Associates Business Degree. He then continued his education at Boise State University completing graduation requirements in 1978 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, receiving a Certified Public Accounting License of Idaho in 1979 and Oregon’s in 1980. In 1981, he became a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. On July 24, 1976, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Joleen Heck at the St. Frances Catholic Church in Baker City, Oregon.
Mike started is first year accounting career in Boise, ID at the Ernst & Whinney Accounting Firm. Returning back to Eastern Oregon in 1980, he started his career with Eveson, Snyder, Lincoln, Sydell & Lewis. Company known today as CPA Connected professional accountants LLC. Mike continued to work as a CPA at the same company for 39 years. Serving many clients who trusted his professionalism and many who became valued friends. Mike served on many different boards and organizations one being the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants and serving as president of the Eastern Oregon Chapter from 2000-2001. He also served as Rotary Secretary for 37 years, and finance counsel for Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, and board member of the La Grande Country Club.
Mike enjoyed hosting the neighborhood football parties, especially his two favorite teams, Boise State Broncos and the Green Bay Packers. He was always ready for a game of golf with his golf buddies and loved spending quality time with every one of them. Rock and Roll music was one of his passions since he was a young boy and he raised his children on the songs of the 50’s and 60’s, frequently challenging them to games of Name that Tune. Spending time with his four grandchildren was a highlight of his life. Taking them to an afternoon movie was something he loved and not to mention spoiling all of them. Putting his kids and grand kids fist in everything he did made him fulfilled and happy. Family vacations were the best family memories that will be cherished forever. Hawaii, Disney World, and Leavenworth were some of his favorite places to visit.
Mike is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joleen (Heck) Moeller, daughter, Lori Kotter (Casey) of Utah; son, Joe Moeller of Boise ID; grandchildren, Owen & Mason Kotter and Anthony & Skyler Moeller; brother, Frank Gardner; sister, Teresa Schalk (David) all of Nevada; in-laws, Joe & Agnes Heck; sisters-in-law, Doris (Ron) Hutton, Cindy (Shane) Sowers and Carol (Jeff) Petry; brother-in-law, David (Jacque) Heck and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Moeller; step-father, Darrel Brown; mother, Marjorie Sue Brown; sister-in-law, Gloria Gardner; sister-in-law, Leta Fischer and brother-in-law, Curtis Heck; niece, Kelly Ann Wimp.
