Mildred was a talented hard working woman, employed in many highly varied assignments, such as; sorting potatoes, bookkeeper for various businesses, and multiple manufacturing jobs. She really enjoyed working with people of other ethnicities and learning of their customs and cultures.

Among her hobbies, Mildred loved gardening, always favoring a big one to tend. She also excelled at canning, making clothes for her family and her grandchildren. Beyond that, Mildred also achieved a high reputation for her baking of bread and particularly her fruit pies. She was a long-term member of Eastern Star for more than 70 years. At her passing, Mildred was still an active member of the La Grande Hope Chapter of Eastern Star. She was an active member of the La Grande United Methodist Church, contributing her many skills in serving others.

Mildred is survived by her 3 children: Earlene Lamb (Mike) of La Grande, OR, Charlene Phinney (Bryan) of Puyallup, WA and William H. (Bill) Davis of Portland, OR; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families, whom she loved like her own. She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings and her grandson, James Phinney.
