Sandra Maur Lee Leavitt, 57, of La Grande, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018 at OHSU in Portland. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the Island City Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 10:00am.

Sandra was born on May 28, 1961, in Pendleton, Oregon to Harry Richard Lee Jr. and Maur Jeanne Littig. She graduated from Powder Valley High School in 1979 and attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. At age 21, Sandra served an 18 month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Japan. She later attended Eastern Oregon University and Walla Walla University earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work.

Sandra married Jeffrey Lorin Leavitt on August 14, 1993 and the couple resided in La Grande. She enjoyed reading, collecting, crafting, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother who found joy in her kids and her “grandlittles.” She was a member of the Sisters on the Fly glamping group and enjoyed camping and spending time in nature. Sandra was the other half of Sister Shic, with her sister Stephanie. They made and sold crafts and vintage items at local shows and bazaars.

Sandra took pleasure in the simple things in life and found joy in small, everyday moments. Through the many hardships and trials, she had the ability to find peace, love, and contentment. She loved life and counted her blessings often.
